The condo itself was everything we dreamed - clean, well-stocked, convenient. There's even a guest book with some great little stories of others who've stayed there.
The resort however did not offer a single amenity advertised on their site. No beach tram, swimming pools were not heated and most were closed, fitness area with sauna and steam room is owners only - no guests, aka renters, admitted. When we tried to turn in our ticket for beach chairs we were told they were all reserved, despite the large trailer of chairs we walked around to get to the hut, but to pick out some empty ones and hope no one came back. And when we tried to go to the cafe in Ariel Dunes I for lunch, it was deserted. We stood around a few minutes and finally just left and went elsewhere. And be careful which building you choose, b/c you can't use the amenities of any other building even if the ones from yours are closed, e.g. swimming pools, even though they're all part of the same resort. So what was my $60 resort fee for?
We'll definitely come back to Destin and rent a condo, but it won't be from this resort. Reviewed on Thursday, May 06, 2010
